Advisory Committees

"It takes a village to raise a child."  In BISD, we want to partner with our parents and community members to create a vision for learning in BISD that captures the values of our community and equips our students to be prepared for any opportunities that their futures may hold.

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
For additional information on the purpose of each committee, roles of participants, and committee membership selection and appointment process click HERE. If you are interested in serving on a Community-Based Advisory Committee for the 2022-2023 school year please submit your interest through the form available HERE.  Please note, submission of interests does not guarantee selection nor appointment to a committee.  Procedures for selection and appointment as described in the information linked above and in BISD Board Policies are in place to promote a balance in roles and representation on our community-based advisory committees.

DISTRICT-ADVISORY COUNCIL
The District Advisory Council is a committee of parents, students, business and community representatives, teachers, principals, and other district staff. The DAC serves in an advisory capacity to provide valuable input to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees regarding continuous district improvement, learning experiences for students and staff, and long-range strategic planning.

District Advisory Committee Meetings are intended for individuals who have been elected/appointed to the DAC.  While DAC meetings are not open public meetings, DAC Membership and Meeting Agendas can be reviewed by clicking the link available HERE.  To contribute your insights to the work of the DAC, please reach out to Dr. Poenitzsch via email at [email protected] or call (979) 865-3133.

SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) serves in an advisory role, assisting the district in ensuring that local community values and health issues are reflected in the district’s health education instruction. The committee is appointed by the Board of Trustees and is comprised primarily of parents of students enrolled in the district.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE

The Capital Improvement Committee is a representative group of stakeholders including students, parents, staff, and community members charged with ensuring BISD provides safe and effective conditions for learning and performance across the district. The CIC serves in an advisory capacity through recommendations made to BISD administrators and the BISD Board of Trustees. For more information on the work of the CIC see the links available below:
